What Leads to Poor Performance of Your Marketing Videos?

Videos are an amazing way to communicate a message to the masses. Today it has become of the factors which contribute to the success of a company as videos are used extensively in marketing, particularly digital marketing. They are used to communicate the message. With a lot of companies trying out their hand in social media marketing, it is interesting to know that billions of videos are uploaded on Facebook and billions of people watch them. It is predicted that videos are going to occupy a major share in the internet traffic. The number of videos being uploaded on the internet through various platforms such as Youtube, Facebook etc increases year after year. But as a marketer, have you ever wondered why videos tend to perform poorly?

1. Not creative: Being creative is very difficult, as everytime you end up making videos, you have to come up with new and innovative ways of portraying content. People like watching videos which grabs their attention. That’s why videos have to have a storyline which revolves around what you want to create. People remember the videos which are attractive, particularly if a video has a story, because storytelling becomes a very important factor which contributes to the success of a video. Through stories, consumers tend to experience the content rather than just consuming it such that event a boring concept can be portrayed in a creative way.

Here are some suggestions for creating such videos:

Create something that you like watching

   Script should be humorous

Introduce new words for making a tagline

Experts agree that 70% of the success of video campaigns depends upon its creative presentation.

2. Not satisfactory: Sometimes videos tend to look not so satisfactory due to poor editing. They might tend to look they are not edited professionally. Editing plays a huge role in the way your content looks. With advanced technologies available in the market, producing high quality videos which are edited professionally has become a cake walk. We live in an era where teenage vloggers are producing high quality videos which are edited in an amazing way. Not just editing, videos tend to become unsatisfactory if they are not shot professionally. Usually high quality videos are attributed to being shot in a DSLR, but it is not true. Even with an iPhone, videos can be shot in an amazing manner unless and until you have an idea of what you are doing.

3. Not optimized: Every platform has its own specifications. If a video is uploaded on Facebook, there are no possibilities of that working on Instagram because Instagram has its own features and time limits for videos. Video optimization is the process of creating a video but modifying some features for making it compatible on various platforms. Another factor to be considered is the nature of the viewers on various platforms. For example, people who use Facebook generally use it for time pass or watch videos to entertain themselves. YouTube might be for something informative. Therefore videos have to be optimized for the platform as well by not only looking into the time limit or video format, but also the tastes of the people who watch the video too.

4. Poor CTA: Call To Action (CTA) is an aspect of a video which induces a person to act in a particular way. Have you come across a situation where you invest a lot of time and money to create a marketing video but it does not give any returns? If yes, then your video has a poor CTA. Even after having a lot of testimonies, company profiles etc in the video, marketers tend to forget to a CTA in the video. CTA answers the basic question of what you aim to achieve through this campaign. The CTA in such videos should be added such that people who watch your videos should have a take-away. If the video is long but without any take-aways, then it can be detrimental to your company and to your campaign.
